Product roadmap

You are choosing a supplier three years before the building runs.

A 20 MW regional AI data center funds on day one, shortlists in year one, orders in year two and commissions in year three. Every vendor on that shortlist is being judged on what they will be able to supply at the end of it, not on what is in the warehouse this week.

So here is the whole roadmap, labelled honestly. Three states: shipping now, in development, and committed. Nothing is promoted a state early to make the page look better.

LFP battery systems and bare prismatic cells

The base of everything else on this page. Rack-mount 48V telecom systems, REVO UPS lithium cabinets, liquid-cooled containerised storage, and prismatic LFP cells sold without a system for OEM pack integration.

  • Cell formats in production, in Ah: 50, 60, 100, 280, 314, 348, 580, 628.
  • REVO 3.0 is UL 1973 certified and UL 9540A tested with no fire after thermal runaway.
  • Vision manufactures the cell. There is no third-party cell inside the system you buy.

800V HVDC sidecar battery

Rack-level backup that sits directly on the 800 VDC bus that NVIDIA has designated as native for its next-generation AI racks. 400 to 600 kW per cabinet depending on module count, with a bidirectional DC/DC inside every module rather than a shared central converter.

  • Sub-3 ms discharge response, output held at 780 ±4 V, soft ramp-out at 100 V/s.
  • Any one module is 4.17% of system power and hot-swaps without a shutdown.

Sodium-ion cells

A second chemistry alongside LFP rather than a replacement for it. Sodium-ion trades energy density for cold-temperature performance and a materials basket with no lithium and no cobalt in it, which changes both the cost curve and the supply-chain exposure.

  • The obvious fit is remote-site and telecom backup in cold climates, where LFP charging below 0 °C is the constraint that drives enclosure heating.
  • We are not publishing cell specifications or dates until they are ours to publish. Ask and you will get the current position rather than a projection.

Hydrogen fuel cell systems

Vision already builds and sells hydrogen fuel cell backup power. It is the part of the business that most people are surprised to find behind a battery brand, and it is the reason the medium-term roadmap is about energy rather than about cells.

  • The application is long-duration backup, where adding hours means adding fuel rather than adding batteries — the point at which a battery-only answer stops scaling.
  • US availability and support model is a commercial conversation. Ask.

Solid oxide fuel cells

Higher-temperature, higher-efficiency fuel cells that run on natural gas as well as hydrogen. For a data center campus that cannot get the interconnection it needs, on-site generation stops being a backup question and becomes the primary supply question.

  • This is the piece that turns a storage conversation into a generation conversation, which is increasingly what AI campus developers are actually asking about.

Solid state transformer, medium voltage to 800 VDC

The front end of the 800 V architecture: a single solid-state stage from medium-voltage AC to the 800 VDC bus, replacing the transformer, the rectifier and the low-voltage UPS chain that sit there today.

  • Why it matters: it removes the low-voltage UPS requirement entirely, lets storage couple straight onto the DC bus with no inversion, cuts conversion stages, and takes cost out of the energy-delivery chain.
  • Multiple power-electronics vendors have announced medium-voltage-to-800 V products for the mid-to-late 2027 window. The architecture is arriving whether or not any single vendor delivers on time.
  • Vision has committed to this as a product. It is on this page under Committed and not under Shipping, and it will move when there is hardware and a certificate to point at — not before.

Why the list looks like this

The battery stopped being the product. The energy is the product.

Ten years ago a data center bought a battery because the grid occasionally failed. Now it buys stored energy because the interconnection is late, the tariff has a spread in it, the rack steps load faster than any rotating machine can follow, and the utility cannot deliver the megawatts on the schedule the building needs.

Each of those is a different engineering problem, and only one of them is solved by a cell. That is why this roadmap runs from prismatic LFP through to a medium-voltage conversion stage and a fuel cell — not because the list is impressive, but because a supplier who only makes batteries can only ever answer one quarter of the question.

  • Anything labelled Shipping has a datasheet and a certification position for a specific model and revision. Ask for both.
  • Anything labelled In development has no date on this page, and will not get one verbally either.
  • Anything labelled Committed is a decision the company has made, stated plainly. If it slips, this page changes.
  • If a competitor is a better fit for what you are building, you will hear that from us before you hear it from them.

The obvious objections, answered.

Why publish a roadmap at all? Most suppliers will not.

Because the people specifying a 20 MW AI data center are choosing a supplier three years before the building is commissioned, and they need to know whether the company will still be relevant to them at the end of it. A roadmap is the only honest way to answer that. The cost of publishing one is that you can hold us to it.

What is the difference between the three labels on this page?

Shipping means there is a product, a datasheet, and a factory building it now. In development means engineering work is underway and we will not give you a date, because a date we invent is worse to you than no date. Committed means the company has decided to build it and has said so out loud, which is a business commitment rather than a delivery promise. We will not move anything into Shipping to win a conversation.

Is the solid state transformer real, or is it a roadmap slide?

It is a commitment, which is why it is labelled as one. The market case is not speculative — the 800 V distribution architecture requires a medium-voltage front end, several vendors have announced products for the 2027 window, and the deals are large. What we are not going to do is show you a specification for hardware that is not finished. When there is one, it will be published the same way the 800 V battery specification is published.

Does the fuel cell work mean you are moving away from batteries?

No. It means the question changes as duration grows. Below a few hours, batteries win on every axis. Past that, the energy and the power stop being the same problem, and the right answer is usually storage for the fast response and fuel for the duration. Being able to supply both means we can tell you which one you actually need.

Can I get any of the in-development items for a pilot?
